Yoga Pose of the Week: Bee (pose and breath)

Let’s pretend to be bees! Flutter your wings. Put up your antennae (raise arms up). Find a comfortable place to sit (wiggle arms up). Once you find your spot, land on the the ground. Lower your antennae to your ears. We’re going to take a deep breath in and when we exhale, let out a humming noise like a bee buzzing.

Songs, Rhymes & Fingerplays

Song: The More We Get Together
The more we get together, together, together.
The more we get together, the happier we’ll be.
For your friends are my friends.
And my friends are your friends.
The more we get together, the happier we’ll be.

Rhythm Stick Rhyme
Bread and butter,
Marmalade and jam,
Let’s tap our sticks as nice as we can!

Other verses:
(quick, slow, quiet, loud, nice)

Put Your Hands Up High
Put your hands up high.
Put your hands down low.
Put your hands in the middle and wiggle just so.

Put your elbows in the front.
Put your elbows to the back.
Put your elbows to the side and quack, quack, quack!

Flip the Lid: Hand Brain Model

When we feel upset, angry, or overwhelmed, it’s important to take a moment to “put our lids back on”. Some ways you can help calm down are practicing yoga poses or other stretches, slowly counting to 10, and focusing on one thing at a time like the way your stomach moves in and out when you breath.

Movement Rhyme: Wave Goodbye
(Tune: Frère Jacques)
Goodbye friends, goodbye friends
Sing this tune, sing this tune,
It’s time to wave goodbye,
it’s time to wave goodbye
See you soon, see you soon.

Goodbye friends, goodbye friends
Close your eyes, close your eyes
Take a deep breathe in… (breathe in instead of repeating this line)
Now breathe out goodbye… (breathe out instead of repeating this line)
