Question of the Week: What do you know about outer space?
Each week we will ask a different question to get a discussion started about our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) theme of the week.

Astronaut Guessing Game
Who is the astronaut with ears so long and funny?
It hops around the spaceship… (wait for guesses)
It’s a little bunny! (reveal bunny puppet)

Who is the astronaut leaping on the log?
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit… (wait for guesses)
It’s a frog! (reveal frog puppet)

Who is the astronaut with a long tail of course?
Neigh, neigh, neigh… (wait for guesses)
It’s a horse! (reveal horse puppet)

Who is the astronaut that likes to ROAR?
We rarely get to see one… (wait for guesses)
It’s a dinosaur! (reveal dinosaur puppet)

Exploration Time
During the last 30 minutes of storytime, have fun with guided play, sensory elements, and experiments! For today’s theme, we had the following activities:

Cloud Dough
Make your own or play with the mixture that’s already made.
Recipe: Mix 2 Cups flour with 1/4 Cup vegetable oil, stir until well mixed.

Sorting the Solar System
How many ways can you sort the solar system? Try arranging the planets by size, colors, planet order, and however else you can think to sort them.

Star Shapes
Make shapes with the paper star cut-outs. What shapes, letters, constellations, etc. can you make?
