Songs, Rhymes & Fingerplays
Fingerplay: Ten Little Fish
Ten little fish floating in a row
They bowed their heads just so
Then they swam to the left
And swam to the right
A shark snapped its jaws!
And gave the fish a fright!

Fingerplay: I’m a Little Octopus
Arm #1 goes swish, swish, swish.
Arm #2 helps me catch fish.
Arm #3 pats my head.
Arm #4 makes sure I’m fed.
Arm #5 swims me to shore.
Arm #6 touches the ocean floor.
Arm #7 can grab and tug.
But all eight arms give me a hug!

Movement Song: I Wish I Was a Fish
(tune: Happy & You Know It)
Oh, I wish I was a fishy in the sea. (clap, clap)
Oh, I wish I was a fishy in the sea.
I’d swim around so cute, without my bathing suit.
Oh, I wish I was a fishy in the sea.

Oh, I wish I was a shark in the sea. (“snap” your hands together)
Oh, I wish I was an octopus in the sea. (wiggle arms)

Movement Rhyme: Open Shut Them
Open, shut them.
Open, shut them.
Give a little clap.
Open, shut them.
Open, shut them.
Put them in your lap.
Creep them, creep them up to your chin.
Open your mouth, but do not let them in!
Open, shut them.
Open, shut them.
Put them in your lap.

Circle Time: The Waves on the Sea
(tune: Wheels on the Bus)
The waves on the sea go up and down,
Up and down, up and down,
The waves on the sea go up and down
All day long.

Additional Verses:
The shark in the sea goes snap snap snap..
The fish in the sea go swish swish swish..
The boats in the sea go toot toot toot…

Closing Song: Wave Goodbye

Wave high, wave low,
I think it’s time, we gotta go.
Wave your elbows, wave your toes,
Wave your tongue and wave your nose.
Wave your knees, wave your lips,
Blow a kiss with fingertips.
Wave your chin, wave your eye,
Wave your hand and say “Goodbye!”

April 4th

Books

Muncha, Muncha, Muncha by Candice Fleming
You’re Finally Here by Melanie Watt
Bunny Fun by Sarah Weeks

Music
Hip Hop Body Rock by Eric Litwin

Songs, Rhymes & Fingerplays
Opening Song: Clap and Sing Hello
(tune: Farmer in the Dell)
We clap and sing hello,
We clap and sing hello,
With our friends at storytime,
We clap and sing hello!

We wave and sing hello,
We wave and sing hello,
With our friends at storytime,
We wave and sing hello!

We stomp and sing hello,
We stomp and sing hello,
With our friends at storytime,
We sit and say hello!

Fingerplay: Sometimes
Sometimes my hands are at my side,
then behing my back they hide.
Sometimes I wiggle my fingers so.
Shake them fast, shake them slow.
Sometimes my hands go clap, clap, clap.
Then I rest them in my lap.
Now they’re quiet as can be.
Because it’s listening time, you see.

Action Rhyme: The Fluffy Little Rabbits
The fluffy little rabbits so soft and white,
(Place hands on head to represent rabbit ears.)

Went looking for some carrots in the dark, dark night.
(Look, holding your hand over your eyes.)

The fluffy little rabbits found a garden so big,
(Extend your arms outward.)

So they jumped into the garden and began to dig.
(Jump; then pretend to dig.)

They ate the crunchy carrots so orange and bright,
(Pretend to eat a carrot.)

Till they heard some footsteps coming and they froze in fright. (Pretend to be frightened.)

Then the fluffy little rabbits heard the farmer say,
(Listen: cup your hand around your ear.)

“Scat, little rabbits,” and they all hopped away!
(Clap once when you say, “Scat”)

Rhyme: Five Little Bunnies
One litte bunny
wondering what to do,
another bunny came along,
then there were two.

Two little bunnies,
hopping like me,
another bunny came along,
then there were three

Three little bunnies,
jumping by my door,
another bunny joined them,
then there were four.

Four little bunnies,
so fluffy and alive,
another bunny joined them,
then there were four.

Five little bunnies,
ready for some fun,
hopped away in the
warm, spring, sun

Song: Bunny Surprise
(tune: eensy weensy spider)
Once there was a bunny
Who hopped around the town.
He brought colored eggs
And laid them on the ground.
When the children woke up,
They had a big surprise.
Lots of pretty eggs
Right before their eyes!

Action Song: If You’re Hoppy
If you’re hoppy and you know it
scrunch your nose,
If you’re hoppy and you know it scrunch your nose,
If you’re hoppy and you know it,
and you really want to show it,
if you’re hoppy and you know it,
scrunch your nose

…stomp your feet
…wiggle your tail
…hop like a bunny

The Bunny Pokey
You put your bunny ears in
You put your bunny ears out,
You put your bunny ears in,
and you wiggle all about.
You do the bunny pokey,
and you hop yourself around,
that’s what it’s all about

You put your bunny nose in…
You put your bunny foot in…
You put your bunny tail in…
You hop your whole self in…

Closing Rhyme: Tickle the Clouds
Tickle the clouds.
Tickle your toes.
Turn around,
and tickle your nose.
Reach down low,
and jump up high!
Storytime’s over
so wave goodbye.

And he can run faster than me or you
(run in place)

I’m a Little Teapot
I’m a little teapot
Short and stout

Here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
Tip me over and pour me out

123 Count With Me by Georgie Birkett

The Dog Went to Dover
Leg over leg,
The dog went to Dover.
When he came to a wall,
Jump! He went over!

Dance Your Fingers Up
Dance your fingers up and
Dance your fingers down.
Dance your fingers in and out
All around the town.

Dance them on your shoulders.
Dance them on your head.
Dance them on your tummy.
Tuck them into bed.

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Head, shoulders, knees, and toes.
Knees and toes.
Head, shoulders, knees, and toes.
Knees and toes
Eyes and ears and mouth and nose.
Head, shoulders, knees, and toes.
Knees and toes

One, Two, Three, Four, Five
One, two, three, four, five
Once I caught a fish alive.
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
Then I let it go again.
Why did you let it go?
Because it bit my finger so!
Which finger did it bite?
The little one upon the right.

Up in the Air
Up, up, up in the air like this.
Down, down, down for a great big kiss.
Up like this, down for a kiss.
You’re my special baby! (big hug)

Did You Ever See a Fishy?
(Tune: Did You Ever See a Lassie?)
Did you ever see a fishy, a fishy, a fishy?
Did you ever see a fishy swim this way and that?
Swim this way and that way,
And this way and that way.
Did you ever see a fishy swim this way and that?

Yes, I’ve seen a fishy, a fishy, a fishy.
Yes, I’ve seen a fishy swim this way and that.
Swim this way and that way,
And this way and that way.
Yes, I’ve seen a fishy swim this way and that.
